Questo piccolo saggio va a indagare nel profondo, in una direzione differente da tutti gli altri, i rapporti tra l'arte del Caravaggio e i suoi committenti legati alle Scienze Occulte del suo tempo, ovvero all'Ermetismo e soprattutto all'Alchimia, primo fra tutti il Cardinal Del Monte, suo demiurgo dedito proprio a questi studi.
