NEW still in publisher's shrinkwrap/no dj as published. Paul Klee. Paul Klee and Hans Bloesch met while they were still in school and remained friends all their lives. Bloesch contributed poems Klee watercolors and drawings. However they finally lost interest in it and "Das Buch" was abandoned.

Today it represents an extraordinary discovery because it contains many previously unknown works by Paul Klee and for the first time provides a broad insight into his early artistic development. This volume contains a facsimile of "Das Buch" including transcripts commentaries and two essays on this astonishing discovery.
--- ----
Nimbus Wadenswil 2019. 8.15 x 0.75 x 11.85 inches. Paul Klee and Hans Bloesch shared a friendship from their school days that lasted for four decades until Klee's death. Bloesch was Klee's closest companion as he took his first steps into the sphere of art and pursued his own ambitions as an author. It was previously unknown that there was a joint project in those early days which the two gave the succinct title “The Bookâ€. It was created when Klee returned to Bern after his time at the Munich Academy and his stay in Italy. It was initially unclear what was to become of him so he entered into a kind of creative game with Bloesch: They took an account book with 100 blank pages and each put in what could somehow stimulate the other's imagination. In Munich Klee had made satirical drawings in the in the style of “Simplicissimus†to which Bloesch now produced matching mocking verses.
At the beginning Klee still drew after the models of the relevant satirical magazines but in the end he became the independent artist we know him as today.
