1915002601Berlin: Hermann Hillger Verlag 1915. First Edition. Paper pastedown on boards. Very Good. 8vo. Unpaginated with 25 leaves a color plate on each of them not counting title leaf. The color plate is on the recto and the facing verso contains accompanying verse. The artwork bears the style of a darkish late impressionism as it moved towards an Expressionist sensibility. As not everything was by the same hand there is some diversity of style coloring literalism of course. Included is an original subscription or order form for the book. It would appear that the book was sold in part or perhaps entirely through direct sales spearheaded by the Crown Princess and conducted by aristocratic women at least in some measure. Light soiling to the cover pastedown. Scattered light soiling within. One gathering is partly loose.

Hermann Hillger Verlag hardcover books
