A series of images was drawn by Daumier and appeared first in the Charivari from 1836 to 1838. These were collected in to the book Les Cent et Un Robert-Macaire and this is creation number 85 Robert-Macaire aux carreaux with a small area of text underneath in French. Comes under passe partout perfect for framing. 265 x 210 mm 10½ x 8¼ inches. Robert Macaire est un personnage de fiction sans scrupules qui apparaît dans un certain nombre de pièces de théâtre de films et d'autres œuvres d'art français. Une série d'images a été dessinée par Daumier et est apparue pour la première fois dans le Charivari de 1836 à 1838. Celles-ci ont été rassemblées dans le livre Les Cent et Un Robert-Macaire et c'est la création numéro 85 Robert-Macaire aux carreaux avec une petite zone de texte en dessous en français.
