65784A group of men gathered around a painting held by another man against his own chest while an auctioneer on the far left background is about to strike with the hammer his podium. The men looking at the work of art are referred to as ""amateurs"". The facial traits are somehow characterized by strong features as if they were caricatures. The original drawing is by Daumier. He signed the composition on the bottom left and the inscribed title reads: ""Les amateurs. Dessin de M. Daumier"". Signed by the printmaker on the bottom right: ""MAURAND"".
