With the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.A fascinating study of English novelist Rosamond Lehmann who became established in the literary world after her scandalous debut 'Dusty Answer' 1927 which is now viewed as a pioneering work of the interwar period. Written by Judy Simons Professor of English Studies at the Sheffield City Polytechnic and prolific academic of female authors. From the library of Carmen Callil an Australian publisher who founded Virago Press in 1973 to "publish books which celebrated women and women's lives and which would by so doing spread the message of women's liberation to the whole population". Virago publish works by new and neglected female authors publishing the works by authors such as Daphne du Maurier Sylvia Townsend Warner Margaret Atwood and Angela Carter all with a distinctive green spine synonymous with Virago. In the original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally both cloth and dust wrapper are excellent with minor bumping to the spine head and tail.
