193230487N.p. Dorchester MA: Unpublished 1932. Original photographs. Unbound photographs. Fine. Two sepia-toned photographs showing nine women posing in 19th-century dress in a formal parlor. They are grouped differently in each photo. One is costumed as a man. "Bartlett Sisters 1932" is written in ink in the lower right of each photo. This refers to the photographers Beulah and Stella Barrett. Beulah 1889-1951 and Estella Stella 1891-1976 were both born in Butte MT raised in Bethel ME and then lived the rest of their lives in Dorchester MA where they were portrait photographers. This information is thanks to a collateral descendant. Inserted in original display folder which has come apart. Your guess is as good as ours as to the dress-up occasion. The photo is similar to a 1916 portrait of the Fragment Society of Boston a women's service club in the Schlesinger Library. This is the second photo here.<br /> Richly printed on semi-matte lightweight card stock. No paper manufacturer given. Each ca. 7 x 5 inches. Can be sent outside the US for less than the default shipping rate. Unpublished unknown

35026std as cover no spine: Unicorn Moon. Paperback. Used: Acceptable. Condition good. ref ZKVQ Each text page has a black and white illustration15 in addition there are 6 single and one double spread coloured. The number of words per page of the story are approximately the same. The story can be read by an adult and interpeted to the child using the illustrations. There are 4 pages of additional reference notes. From the Author The book was written and designed by myself using research techniques developed when writing my monograph on Gentians. This has remained a standard work on the genus since first published in 1975. I researched each part of the story using standard reference works and contacts I had built up. The sentance each animal speaks is based on the work of recognised authorities in their fields: for instance the tiger is based on the work in India of Vandana Shiva who I know personally: Much of the inspiration for the princess came from the work in Ladak by Helena Norberg Hogde another personal friend. The central image is based on a broad Linnean classification. The concept was to pull the diverse imformation on environmentecology and social issues into one short story to help children understand the issues. No one knows if the unicorn lived but the twelve animals which make the body do if we don't understand the issues and act they are becoming as extinct as the unicorn. Unicorn Moon paperback
