This is the revised much enlarged edition. - The plates present the harbours and shores of England Scotland and Wales in the most dramatic picturesque or romantic light possible. Depictions of port cities range from stormy scenes of wreckage to calm sunny days. The romantic views by William Henry Bartlett 1809-1854 are among the best produced in the 19th century. The plate of the lighthouse of Berwick in volume one is shown as title-vignette in volume two.
