The author Victor Eugène Geruzez 1840-1906 specialized in books on horses and hunting. "The contents of the book are divided into sections: 'Cavalry of Paris' 'At the Bois de Boulogne' 'At the Races' and 'The Art of Falling from the Horse.' These satirical and witty observations highlight the transactions and tricks that surrounded acquiring a horse from a Parisian horse dealer. It takes a comical view of French society the racing world the horse show and dressage. There are many drawings and caricatures of the equestrian world and horse racing. It contains reflections and drawings depicting Parisian society on horseback in the morning afternoon and evening. Oblong 23 by 27 cm. 48 pp. A tour of the streets of Paris and the various contretemps encountered most involving in some way horses whether working or sporting horses. Thus we encounter the collision of horses with modern technology from bicycles to electrified trams. The humor is somewhat dry and ironic. While one here can enjoy a glimpse of the pre-automobile city there is enough that is recognization in the various accidents activities pretensions and confusion that one might nod in recognition of many of Crafty's remarks. Binding is near mint in terms of the brightness of the cloth and imagery. Light foxing in early leaves then only occasionally. Most leaves are clean. Tiny pinprick hole on FFEP where there is the remnants of a seller's small price tag. Librairie Plon unknown
