Two Volume set comprising of 1-the facsimile copy of the 1931 book printed and published at the Golden Cockerel Press Royal 4to pp269 and 2- the commentary volume with essays by John Dreyfus & Robert Gibbings slim Royal 4to pp27 both issued without dust jackets and housed in slipcase. Black cloth covered slipcase with gilt titles to spine in very good condition with some white spots to bottom and top edge with a little rubbing to tips. Facsimile copy bound in full black Nigerian goatskin leather with gilt titles to spine and gilt titles and Eric Gill design to front board binding in fine condition. Inside with all pages full edge gilt in fine condition. The commentary volume is bound with black buckram spine over grey paper covered boards in fine condition inside fine. For added interest inserted is publicity material from the folio society for this edition including sample page in black envelope. A superb copy.This exquisite little booklet was never published only a few copies being distributed to friends and then later as a keepsake at a Double Crown Club dinner at which Rene Hague was the speaker. <br>It was the first piece to be printed on the press at Pigotts where Gill lived as indicated in the colophon where the date limitation and number of the printing appears “1.9.20 225 1â€.<br>In the Chiswick Book Shop New York envelope when it was sold a long time ago for $7.50.
