This unique art book was printed by Kieffer on his presses. Bindery tag and stamp shown. Colophon and title page with the same device. Edition of 110 copies 10 being reserved for staff. 100 copies on arches vellum signed and numbered by the artist. An original drawing signed by Jean-Gabriel Daragnes and an additional suite of the wood engravings were issued with the first 16 copies. This is copy number 5 with the suite of 69 additional engravings in matching wrappers and the original pencil drawing housed in a brown card chemise with a quarter vellum spine with gilt lettering and the "Flowered Heart" device to the heel. This is one of only 160 copies distributed to the trade No. 330 with 23 engravings in color by Jean Boutet. Fine in clamshell box with see-through plastic cover. In the original printed wrappers protected by the original glassine jacket both remarkably well-preserved. The book is in near fine condition uncut pages with only slight curling to the page edges - likely due to the inherent quality of the handmade stock.199 pages.<br /> <br /> Laid in is a handwritten letter signed ALS by Daragnès written in French on beige paper.
