Stiff card boards and an integral paper dust wrapper with an inset colour reproduction. Text in French by Emile Male. With a frontispiece and thirty-one splendid colour tipped-in plates plus an additional twenty-eight black & white reproductions. Corners a little rubbed and creased with a touch of fairly superficial chipping to the wrapper spine panel ends and several small areas of light miscellaneous staining to the rear board. A very good copy. Jean Bourdichon served as official court painter to four successive French kings: Louis XI Charles VIII Louis XII and François I. As court painter he designed stained glass windows coins and gold plate illuminated manuscripts and executed independent paintings. This issue of 'Verve' is devoted to illuminated manuscripts and reproduces Bourdichon's contributions to the Latin manuscript "Les Heures D'Anne De Bretagne" held at the Bibliotheque Nationale Paris.
