The first edition of this work was published 1924-27. It was instantly recognised as the primary reference on the evolution of English furniture from the Middle Ages to the Late Georgian period. It was consistently in demand and soon went out of print. The Second Edition, published in 1954, was entirely revised and enlargedby one of the two original collaborators, Ralph Edwards, who at that time was Keeper of the Department of Woodwork at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He was an outstanding authority, well placed to produce such a mammoth revision. The Dictionary is, within its chronological limits, a comprehensive survey of the whole wide field of English domestic furniture. Later research has added details but the basic body of knowledge remains unchallenged. It remains the standard book referred to in all sale catalogues

As a son of a cabinet maker, Dirk Wynants (?°1964), was brought up with a nose for good design and a healthy dose of entrepreneurship. He studied interior and furniture design at Sint-Lucas School for Architecture in Ghent (Belgium) and was involved in the distribution of international design brands, until he established Extremis (1994), a label and brand for his own designs. Extremis' outdoor furniture designs quickly grew into an international standard of excellence. Not only the design collection itself has been applauded and awarded many times (with several Henry van de Velde Awards, Interior Innovation Award, (IMM Koln 2005), Red Dot Award 2005, International Excellence Design Award 2007, ao.), the expertise of Extremis in the field of design management, general management and export was praised just as well. In 2007 the creative unit of Extremis continued under the name Dirk Wynants Design Works = (dw)?, to enable the company to take on external design tasks. Dirk Wynants is still managing director and main designer of Extremis, but is also working closely together with other internationally renowned designers.

Dixonary is the first comprehensive book on one of Britain's best known and most highly regarded product designers, in his own words and with a wealth of illustrations showing the inspiration behind each work he has produced in almost 30 years of design. Self-taught and a child of the punk era, Dixon (born 1959) founded his own studio in 1991 and became Head of Design at Habitat in 1998 before reestablishing his own brand, Tom Dixon - a lighting and furniture design and manufacturing company - in 2002. He has also been Creative Director at Artek, the Finnish furniture company founded by Alvar and Aino Aalto. Dixon's artistic career began when he discovered the pleasures of welding while repairing damaged motorcycle frames; he went on to specialize in welded salvage furniture and became known as a designer when his S-Chair was manufactured by Guido Cappellini in 1991. Dixon's previous books include Rethink (2002), an analysis of each room in the modern home, and The Interior World of Tom Dixon (2008), a book of ideas and observations on design, materials and style. Dixonary is the first complete monograph of this British innovator.

Those who know one or two aspects of the Eameses' work are often surprised to learn just how far and vast their range extended. Yet, throughout their myriad works, from architecture and furniture to exhibition design and filmmaking, their core philosophy prevails. An Eames Primer is the first book to illuminate this seamless connection. Author Eames Demetrios explores the rich energy of the Eameses' world from a unique perspective, informed by his close relationship with Charles and Ray. He shares personal anecdotes, previously unpublished photos, and his extensive interviews with former friends and colleagues of the Eameses to make connections between the Eameses' influential philosophy and their widely admired work. For those unacquainted with the designers, the stories behind the design process will inform, entertain, and inspire, while readers with an extensive knowledge of the Eameses' work gain a deeper level of understanding their process.

This special book tides over a period of thirty years and show how the role of product design has evolved through the work of Enthoven Associates, an internationally operating design consultancy in Antwerp, led by Alain Denis, Axel Enthoven and Jean-Pierre Geelen. The services of design consultants have thoroughly changed, and the same goes for design itself: from the vision of an individual designer to the combined expertise of the members of a team, from a more artistic view on products from the daily life to a much more complex added value that combines art with technology or ethical values with marketing concepts. All these things are exemplified by a historical overview and dozens of detailed cases like the Magiq bus, the Brussels tram, the Genio bed, Living Tomorrow, the Ethnicraft chair, products for Tupperware
