The Sharpshooter Blues is in part an exuberant meditation on America's love affair with blue-steel barrels and snub-nose bullets and in part a heartbreaking look at the violence and loss that ensue when the guns come out to play one day in a small town. But most of all after the bullets have flown it's a story of love - between fathers and sons between husbands and wives between gay lovers and between longtime neighbors and friends. --Source: Publisher ; Lewis Nordan was born in Forest Mississippi on August 23 1939. If you are up for a big helping of humor and heartbreak insanity and intrigue read Irish Eyes." --Orange Country Register ; The eighth outing in the heartwarming and hilarious mystery series from New York Times bestselling author Mary Kay Andrews featuring former cop turned cleaning lady Callahan Garrity and her outrageous Atlanta cleaning crew. Callahan Garrity is the owner of House Mouse a cleaning service that tidies up after Atlanta's elite. She's also a former cop and a part-time sleuth and she and her coterie of devoted helpers can ransack a house for clues faster than it takes a fingerprint to set. When Callahan gets caught in a liquor store holdup on the way home from a St. Paddy's Day party one of her best friends is shot. Callahan and her House Mouse cleaning crew dive into the investigation--only to discover that her old friend might have been working both sides of the law as an accomplice in a string of robberies. It will take every trick they've got to pierce the veil of secrecy surrounding an Irish police organization and prove that the case is more than it seems. The Callahan Garrity novels can be read in any order ; Mary Kay Andrews is the pen name of American writer Kathy Hogan Trocheck based in Savannah Georgia who has authored a number of best-selling books under the Andrews pen name since 2002. Now the acclaimed sleuth's latest outing shows how amply she and her creator deserve their acclaim as Callahan and the outrageous band of "girls" in her Atlanta cleaning crew set out during the Christmas rush to prove her no-account brother innocent of his ex-wife's murder. It's a few days before Christmas and Callahan thinks for once she has things under control. Her presents are all bought her baking is almost done and she's relaxing with a well-earned drink when her brother Brian--missing for over ten years--strolls through the door whistling off-key carols and lugging his two-year-old daughter Maura in his arms. Happy as she is to see her charming brother and her ever-more-charming niece Callahan hasn't forgotten that Brian carries trouble wherever he goes. That's never been truer than now for Brian reveals he's kidnapped Maura from his estranged wife who's on the warpath and of course has the law on her side. When Brian's ex-wife is found dead in her spectacularly messy apartment the law comes down on Brian big time. True to form Brian disappears again leaving Maura behind for Callahan to look after and forcing her to clear his name without his help. For Callahan knows that although Brian is many things he's no murderer. As the Christmas rush picks up Callahan her irascible mom Edna and a gaggle of House Mouse employees submerge themselves in the most dangerous undercurrents of Atlanta street life and head for wherever else in the New South's yuletide their search for truth leads them. In true Trocheck tradition Midnight Clear is heartwarming chilling and hilarious--a thoroughly up-to-date and irresistible Christmas tale. --Source: Publisher ; Kathy Hogan Trocheck was born on July 27 1954 in St. Petersburg Florida.
