This is a good softcover copy with some wear to the edges of the covers. Completely clean inside and out, but some wear to the Chaplin filmstrip inserts. This issue of Champion Papers, Imagination 11, was designed by Henry Wolf. The theme of this issue is the circus. The front cover opens to a circus poster image of a large tiger, from Barnum & Bailey, with a die-cut black lift-up, cage door. Cover photograph by Andre Kertesz, other photographs by Wingate Paine, Duane Michals. Also Richard Avedon's famous photo of an elegantly dressed woman posing with elephants 'Sawdust and Satin'. Text in Czech and English. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Moravska Galerie in Brno, from March 11 to May 22, 2016. Exhibition curated by Radek Wohlmuth. This is the first major monograph on Maxim Velcovsky (1976- ) born in Prague, and considered one of the leading Czech designers. Illustrated throughout in color with many photographs of products. This is a very good hardcover copy in a very good dust jacket with some wear. The jacket is all there not price-clipped but has minor soiling, a few small closed tears and one tiny repaired hole at the lower edge of the front panel. Completely clean inside. Four pages have an indentation or wrinkle, at the lower edge, probably from the binder. Illustrated throughout in color and black & white. Classic study of the 'Theatre of Marvels' or popular street theater which was practiced in Europe from 1789 to the 1860's. This study grew out of the author's work at Harvard and later the Sorbonne on this fascinating subject. Profusely illustrated in color and black & white with about 200 prints and engravings.
