VG but with soiling to covers where glassine was lacking minor age toning to extremities of some pages not bad overall a tight copy that could have been stored better. The front cover is slightly cattywampus from the two extra sets of engravings being inserted in the front of the book as might be expected. Printed wraps with glassine remnants on inside flaps. 24 pp. 15 engravings etchings withing the text and two extra sets of these illustrations each set representing a different state are included only 20 such sets were issued of the overall edition of 430 copies. Text is in French. The book itself has been printed on Imperial Japon and the extra engraving printed on Imperial Japon and on Holland Van Gelder it appears from the colophon and limitation at the rear of the book. Quite rare as a result of this limited configuration. Each set of plates is wrapped in glassine and the extremities of these plates show age-toning or light soiling. "Les Accidents de l'Enfance" is a series of stories depicting children in horrible accidents framed as a warning and advice to children to listen to their parents and to not get into trouble. The stories are accompanied by a variety of illustrations of the accidents described in the text by French illustrator and engraver Edmond Morin 1824-1882 who illustrated many books and periodicals such as "Children's Week" French illustrator Gerlier and Fortune Meaulle 1844-1901 a French engraver best known for providing engravings for Victor Hugo's "The Toilers of the Sea" based on drawings by Francoise Chifflart 1825-1901. <br/><br/>This volume has a lovely cloth binding with bright gilt floral patterns on the front board; it is one of only a very few online as of this writing.<br/><br/>___DESCRIPTION: Full red cloth with title inside floral pattern in black and gilt inside gilt ruled borders on the front board gilt lettering and floral decorations on the spine black floral pattern with publisher's name inside black ruled border bevelled boards all edges gilt blue endpapers frontispiece a black-and-white illustration by Edmond Morin title page with publisher's device in black black-and-white engraved headpieces by Gerlier and Meaulle throughout black-and-white drawings by Morin throughout; octavo size 8.25" by 5.5" pagination: i-vi 1-216. VANDEN AVELE 2 signed and JAN LUYKENone signedone with 2-inch tear repaired some minor marginal wear. Original marbled wrappers old paper cover label; cloth folding case. VERY RARE print series illustrating the history of the ascension to the throne of WILLIAM III 1650-1702 and MARY II 1662-1694. The series begins with the Seven Bishops being brought to the Tower of London with a view up the Thames followed by the birth of the Prince of Wales on 10 June 1688 through the entrance of William and Mary into The Hague on 5 February 1691. The series contains several scenes devoted to the festivities surrounding their coronation in London on 11 April 1689. This set of the engravings correspond to Landwehr and appear to have been issued in its original binding without the text; the title-page may have been removed or was not included. One of sixty numbered copies in addition to twenty-five copies numbered in Roman signed and dated in the margin by the artist. Printed in Paris in the Atelier of Georges Leblanc on hand made paper from Papeteries de Rives. Scanavino 1922 - 1986 who after a figurative start to his work rapidly progressed with a personal aesthetic partaking of elements of cubism. He took part in several exhibitions including the Venice Biennale 1950 1954 1958 and 1966. He also was the subject of several solo exhibitions starting in Genoa in 1948 through to his final exhibition in Rome's Quadriennale in 1986.
