Mitchell Robert A. Furniture Co. SOME INTERESTING NOTES ABOUT ORIENTAL RUGS. N. d. 76 p. 23 black and white illlustrations fig. 19 x 13 cm. Most of the text is identify to a 1903 book with the same title published by the Karagheusian importing firm who allowed its retail rug dealers to use it with suitable revisions to give to their customers. The revision consists of a two page introduction describing the Mitchell Furniture company. Most of the text describes town and areas in Persia and Turkey and what is being currently made in 1903 in them. There are much smaller section on Turkmen "Bokhara" Afghan- Kiva Yamoud and Belouchistan and the Caucasus. About half of the illustrations are of people and scenery. Useful for seeing what importers were saying about the rug trade at the turn of the last century. <br/> <br/> Robert A. Mitchell Furniture Co. paperback

In fair condition with slight staining at foot of first leaf and traces of glue from mount on blank reverse of second leaf. In an elongated and somewhat opaque hand. Begins: ‘My dear Mrs. Hicks / I was exceedingly sorry to hear that Mr. Hicks had met with an accident on the day you left.’ What follows is hard to decipher until she writes ‘I have much pleasure in forwarding to you the address of Jackson & Graham. It is No. 35-36 Oxford St.’ She praises ‘the selection he has of patterns’. The conclusion is similarly indecipherable. CALLING CARD: Conventional copperplate calling card with mourning border. Edges and reverse carrying traces of glue from mount. Centred: ‘Mrs. W. Avery Bushnell / née / Catherine Hayes.’ In bottom left-hand corner: 13 Westbourne Park West.’ ‘13 Westbourne Park West / Saturday’. [no date] unknown
