An unproduced adaptation to the screen of this story by the LDS novelist screenwriter and historian undertaken by Koenig the W. Wyler associate and future principal of Contemporary Records. Accompanied by a 5 1/3 page single-spaced typed letter from Taylor signed in type with initials on letterhead Palo Alto 2 July 1940 to "Dear Alma" with clean creased tear in top blank margin of first leaf offering a detailed and concise analysis of Koenig's adaptation which he finds "a good job" but also feels "has some holes that ought to be plugged." The letter then sets about to detail those holes. There is no record that this crime-thriller saw production and it predates the earliest films credited to Taylor as source or screenwriter: THE MAN WHO RETURNED TO LIFE 1942 MAN WITH MY FACE 1951 and BAIT 1954. In later years Taylor was associated with the considerably less gritty more family oriented projects based on his short stories filmed as THE ABSENT MINDED PROFESSOR and SON OF FLUBBER as well as fiction historical works associated directly with his membership in the Church of LDS and television writing for ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS and BONANZA.
