Decorative cast and crew invite to premiere and wrap party laid in. <br/><br/>The second filmed version of Bierce's short story the first one titled "The Bridge" was made by Charles Vidor in 1929 virtually unknown preceding both the well known 1959 version filmed for the fifth season of Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" and the French version made in 1962 by Robert Enrico. <br/><br/>According to the 1956-57 Film Review of Student Productions presented by Department of Cinema and Delta Kappa Alpha at the University of Southern California USC the film was part of the Productions of the Graduate Workshop in the fall of 1956. Laid in is an invitation to premiere screening held at CineManor where USC's California National Honorary Cinema Fraternity Delta Kappa Alpha hosted screenings and social events. Douglas W. 1940131332Los Angeles: Self published 1940. First Draft script for an unproduced film titled "And Now Goodbye" an adaptation of his 1931 novel. Included are three typed letters signed by Hilton. Each letter is from Hilton to producer Lester Cowan on Warner Bros. Columbia Pictures and RKO Radio Pictures letterhead dated October 24 1939 May 14 1940 and May 22 1940 respectively. <br/><br/>In the letters Hilton discusses his negotiations with Laurence Olivier about the project having lunch with Mrs. Hitchcock and giving her the script hoping she'd impress her husband with it how the war has affected show business his book writing and his transfer from Columbia to RKO. <br/><br/>Hilton began writing the script 15 days after the release of "Lights Out in Europe" a short war documentary he wrote commentary for six months before the release of Hitchcock's "Foreign Correspondent" with dialogue from Hilton. Hollywood: Paramount 1944. 16 Near Fine original roughly 8" by 10" glossy vintage black & white publicity and scene stills from the movie 11 of which are studio-stamped and double-weight. A rare collection of images from one of only six Hollywood film scripts written by mystery writer Raymond Chandler. Alan Ladd plays a doctor trying to cure deaf Loretta Young even as evil Susan Hayward is scheming ways to steal Barry Sullivan Loretta's husband away from her. The film was directed by Irving Pichel "Jezebel" "The Moon Is Down" "They Won't Believe Me" who was later black-listed and victimized by the infamous McCarthy red scare witch hunt which led to his early death in 1954. 1943133635Hollywood: Paramount Pictures 1943. Revised Draft script for the 1943 film. Co-written for the screen by Raymond Chandler and Frank Partos. Chandler's contribution to the script had mostly to do with Alan Ladd's character and his tough dialogue elements sneered at by the media upon the film's release. Laid in is an 8-page shooting schedule on blue stock a 6-page revision to sequence "A" on yellow onionskin stock and 14 pages of "inter-office communication" on yellow studio stationery comments on scenes sequences and pages of the script. <br/><br/>Based on Rachel Field's 1942 novel about Emily Blair Loretta Young a wealthy deaf girl whose hometown is named for her family. Doctor Vance Ladd who grew up on the other side of town resents the Blair family but is working on a serum to cure deafness which he tries on Emily and she is eventually cured. <br/><br/>One of only five screenplays written by Chandler this being the second following his script for the classic "Double Indemnity" 1944 based on James M. Cain's novel. <br/><br/>Chandler had a tumultuous career in Hollywood including a suspension in late 1945 from Paramount for "refusing to perform under a contract which is not a proper expression of my standing in the motion picture business" but his influence on film adaptation is nearly unmatched with scripts and stories that pushed the limits of the Production Code Administration. <br/><br/>Script:<br/><br/>White self wrappers production No. SF 8577 dated December 3 1943 with credits for screenwriters Partos and Chandler. Two vintage black-and-white studio still photographs from the 1987 film. <br/><br/>Louis Cyphre Robert De Niro hires detective Harry Angel Mickey Rourke ostensibly to track down a big band singer he made a deal with years ago. However a string of gruesome murders follows in Angel's path and the unnerved detective gradually begins to uncover Cyphre's true intentions. The film stirred controversy for the graphic sex scene between the young Lisa Bonet and Rourke. Parker threatened with an X rating was forced to cut 10 seconds from the scene. At the time Bonet was best known for her role in "The Cosby Show." Generally considered the director's masterpiece and an essential supernatural horror film of the 1980s.
