Sherman McCoy Hanks the "master of the universe" is a shallow Wall Street investor who makes millions while enjoying the good life and the sexual favors of Maria Ruskin Griffith. One day the two find themselves in the South Bronx where Maria sees a black youth approaching so frightened she guns the engine and runs him over killing him. The two drive away and decide not to report the accident to the police. Alcoholic journalist Peter Fallow Willis anxious for a story hears about the incident through a local black community activist. Once the story is out the end is inevitable for Sherman. <br/><br/>Set in New York shot on location there and in California. <br/><br/>De Palma would return to independent filmmaking with his next effort the creepy horror film "Raising Cain" 1992 starring John Lithgow. <br/><br/>First Draft script:<br/><br/>White wrappers. Willoughby's annotations regarding same present on the verso along with Willoughby's stamps and a stamp for the Sygma Agency in Paris. A "Final Master" of this teleplay by Wald written for the FAVORITE STORY series production 70b and based on a short story "The Substitute" by Francois Coppée. Leslie Goodwins directed Robert Blake and Noah Beery Jr. and Adolphe Menjou introduced the episode as usual. This particular copy was intimately involved in the production of the episode and a manuscript designation on the upper wrapper implies it was used by Larry Lund the script supervisor. Wald had an extended and productive career as a screen and television writer for a number of the best known series of the 1950s and early 1960s. SIGNED by David Carradine on the title page: "This land is your land / David Carradine / drawing of the yin and yang symbol." <br/><br/>Unsurprisingly director Ashby's version of Woody Guthrie is a complex one showing the legendary proletarian singer and activist as a man with contradictory virtues and faults. Drawing from a pivotal few years detailed in Guthrie's autobiography of the same name the film follows Guthrie's initial migration west to escape the dust bowl his discovery of the plight of migrant workers his important encounter with singer Ozark Bole and his subsequent and problematic reunion with his family. Winner of the Academy Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Music and nominated for 4 others including Best Picture and Best Screenplay. <br/><br/>Brown titled wrappers stamped with only the title on the front wrapper. 1973132303Poland: ZGK 1973. Original Polish A1 poster circa 1973 for the 1971 British-American film. Artwork by Jakub Erol. <br/><br/>Hal Erickson: "The Boy Friend" began life as Sandy Wilson's small-scale pastiche of British musical comedies of the 1920s. When the play was brought to America in 1954 its star was the teenage Julie Andrews. Because the musical required a minimum of sets props and costumes it became a favorite of amateur theater groups throughout the world. <br/><br/>But director Ken Russell notorious for his onscreen excesses abandoned the film's simplicity fashioning a humongous parody of the Busby Berkeley film musicals of the 1930s staged on a scale that made Berkeley seem stylistically modest. Fashion model Twiggy plays Polly Browne an aspiring musical comedy star working as stage manager of a production. She is transformed into a star when she replaces leading lady Rita Monroe Glenda Jackson unbilled who twists her ankle seconds before the curtain goes up. Christopher Gable who plays Polly's on-stage leading man also choreographed the lavish musical numbers. <br/><br/>23 x 33 inches. Faint stains to one edge and a couple of short closed tears.
