Blue cardstock 4†x 2 1/2†with rounded corners and with “PRESS†printed in red. Studio passes were given to press and industry representatives allowing the bearer access to the studio’s lot and sets. It reads in full: “1938 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Corporation with their logo design To Publicity Department Only Name James Starr typed Newspaper Herald-Express typed Violation of the Requirements of this Pass Will Result In It’s Permanent Cancellation No. 680 Executive signed in ink This Pass Not Valid Unless Signed by the Holder on the Reverse Side.†On the verso is a printed set of basic terms regarding the holder of the pass and is signed by Jimmy Starr in ink as the recipient of the pass. About fine with the most minute trace of use. 1960138668Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer 1960. Undetermined. very good. 81pp. Complete set of eight lobby cards and one sheet. Lobby cards measure 11 X 14 inches. One sheet lithograph measure 27 X 41 inches has minor edge tears and a few holes with professional restoration. Lobby cards have very small amount of colour offsetting mostly to verso else clean and bright. Uncommon to get lobby cards and poster together in reasonable condition. Lobby cards and one sheet made to promote the film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's novel. Despite being produced by a major movie studio and starring famous actors Leslie Caron and George Peppard the movie was a financial flop. Allen Ginsberg derided it for its two dimensional characters and shallow portrayal of the beat culture and this can be seen in the subtitles of the lobby cards such as "When the party's over and she's alone the wild Bohemian searches her soul for the answers" and "The new Bohemians took what they liked even if it was another fellow's girl.". 1960 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer unknown

The notorious pre-code film Red-Headed Woman--based on the novel by Katharine Brush with a screenplay by Anita Loos--to this day is shocking with its presentation of a woman who will do anything to get ahead including ruining her boss' marriage. Donning a red wig to cover her platinum blonde hair Jean Harlow moved to star status at MGM. In this rare behind-the-scenes image we see her at work seducing boss Chester Morris on a set consisting of a tiny phone booth as director Jack Conway and crew do their creative jobs. This DVD is the Widescreen version presented in a "Letterbox" wide screen format preserving the "Scope" aspect ration of its original theatrical exhibition enhanced for widescreen TVs. This DVD has special features feature-length audio commentary by Shirley Jones Dina Merrill and Stella Stevens Interactive Menus Theatrical Trailer Behind-the-sceenes Notes Scene Access. This is in English and French with English French and Spanish subtitles. This movie starred Shirley Jones Glenn Ford Stella Stevens Dina Merrill Roberta Sherwood Ron Howard and Jerry Van Dyke. It was directed by Vincent Minnelli. Shirley Jones starred in the film versions of the hit musicals Oklahoma 1955 Carousel 1956 and The Music Man 1962. She earned a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for playing quite contrary to her wholesome image an angry prostitute in Elmer Gantry 1969. Jones is best known to television audiences as Shirley Partridge the matriarch on the popular musical sitcom The Partridge Family 1970-1974 whose cast included her stepson David Cassidy in 2004 Jones hosted a reality TV program to select a cast for a new Partridge Family pilot. Jones was married to her first husband Jack Cassidy from 1956 until their divorce in 1974; their sons Shaun Patrick and Ryan all became entertainers. She has been married to comedian/actor Marty Ingels. The Courtship of Eddie's Father is a 1963 American Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer romantic comedy film directed by Vincente Minnelli and stars Glenn Ford as a widowed father and Ronny Howard as his caring son. The film was based on a 1961 novel by Mark Toby as was the ABC-TV series of the same name with Bill Bixby and Brandon Cruz which ran from 1969 to 1972. Young Eddie Corbett Ronny Howard tries his best to be a matchmaker for his widowed father Tom Glenn Ford a radio station executive. At first sexy Dollye Daly Stella Stevens seems promising but she ends up falling in love with and marrying Norman Jones Jerry Van Dyke Tom's friend and colleague. Tom becomes attracted to a sophisticated socialite Rita Behrens Dina Merrill. They begin considering marriage but Eddie takes an immediate dislike to Rita and she does not know how to deal with him nor does she particularly wish to learn and Tom eventually chooses his son over her. Through all this the Corbetts are supported by their new housekeeper Mrs. Livingston Roberta Sherwood and by their divorced next-door neighbor Elizabeth Marten Shirley Jones. It takes a crisis for Tom to realize what has been under his nose all along. Film rights to the novel were bought by MGM prior to publication for $100000 in 1961. The Chicago Tribune called the novel "deeply moving and at the same time very funny." Producer Joe Pasternak assigned John Gay to write the script and hired Glenn Ford to star. Shirley Jones accepted her role in part because she did not have to sing. Roberta Sherwood a nightclub singer and TV entertainer made her film debut. Pasternak says he interviewed hundreds of children to play Eddie but as soon as he talked to Ronny Howard "I knew he was right." The bowling alley sequence was filmed at the now-defunct Paradise Bowl located at 9116 South Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles two miles north of LAX. Other photos from the same gathering show them playing cards.</p><p>At the time Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy were appearing in the film <em>Pack Up Your Troubles</em> while Buster Keaton and Jimmy Durante had formed a duo for <em>The Passionate Plumber</em>. Set of four vintage original black-and-white photos of which three are 8 x 10" 20 x 25 cm and one is 13 1/4 x 8 1/2" 34 x 21 cm. Overall near fine. MGM director Tod Browning remade his lost silent film London After Midnight 1927 into a sound film taking advantage of Bela Lugosi's earlier appearance in Dracula 1931. Mark of the Vampire features a twist ending and outstanding performances by Bela Lugosi as the sinister Count and Carroll Borland as his equally evil and enchanting daughter Luna. This collection features two impressive double weight matte photographs both stamped on the back and credited to MGM photographer Stephen McNulty. One photograph shows Lugosi with a fresh bullet wound on his forehead portraying Count Mora. Accompanying him are Carroll Borland as his vampiric daughter Luna along with Elizabeth Allen and Henry Wadsworth who play their victims. The second double weight photo captures a striking atmospheric shot of Borland gazing at the viewer while standing over the unconscious body of Wadsworth. Additionally there is one set reference photograph labeled "Int. Castle Hallway" and two photos that have been taped together on the back to form a single 13.5 x 8.5 in. set reference photo of the same set. The photo featuring Lugosi has a faint outline of a small paperclip along the upper border while the image of Borland and Wadsworth displays slight wear on its upper edge. The set reference photo is noted as a "Proof" with a number handwritten on the upper border. This is an exceptional collection of vintage original photographs from one of the few horror films produced by MGM in the 1930s. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer unknown

About fine. </em></p><p>Presented is Margaret Mitchell's biography file with her headshot portrait typed memo from Howard Dietz' MGM Advertising and Publicity department and a three-page typed biography. Dated 12-11-39 this is the release which went to all advertising departments to publicize the premiere of the epic film adaptation of her bestselling novel <em>Gone With the Wind</em>.</p><p>The bio tells of her life as a writer taking ten years from 1926-36 to write her Pulitzer Prize-winning book which would be her only published novel. The photo and bio come in its original file folder and the cover letter has "Star File" written at top. <em>Gone With the Wind</em> would have its world premiere in Atlanta GA on Dec 15 1939. Mitchell producer David O. Selznick and much of the main cast would attend. The publicity and advertising campaign for the film were the biggest achieved for a film up to that time.</p> Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

One of the most famous films of the 1930s with the wittiest of scripts and dialogue. F. Scott Fitzgerald contributed to the script based on Clare Booth Luce's Broadway play. Superb in every respect the film nonetheless was released during the most competitive year of superb film works and did not receive a single Academy nomination. Still labeled ""1091x174"" depicts the climatic final scene in which there is a major showdown amongst the film's main characters in a New York City nightclub ladies powder room. Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer were allowed to play out in character their dislike for each other in this scene. Queens of MGM their reign would be over in two years. Shearer would retire while Crawford re-invented herself and moved on to an entirely new film career. Rosalind Russell's career would flourish as she went onto starring roles in films for another 25 years while Paulette Goddard would have a leading lady reign throughout the 1940s. Others in the scene are Phyllis Povah Mary Boland and Florence Nash. Hedda Hopper not seen here also appeared in this scene. Adrian gowned all the actresses. This photo part of a series which told the plot of the film includes its original typed blurb on the verso and also features the Hollywood Advertising Council Approval stamp dated July 10 1939. Set of four vintage original 8 x 10" 20 x 25 cm double weight black-and-white photos all with mimeographed text on verso overall fine. Heitor Villa-Lobos 1887-1959 was the foremost South American classical composer of his generation. He came for the first time to Hollywood in 1958 to write the score for the film Green Mansions set in Brazilian jungles which starred Audrey Hepburn and was directed by her husband Mel Ferrer. Wikipedia One photo is a portrait of the composer; another includes him Hepburn and her pet Yorkshire terrier; another shows him seated at a gala dinner with Hepburn and two others; and the last shows the two of them she is helping light his cigar Ferrer and a few other dignitaries. As it happens the composer died in November of 1959 -- not long after ending his memorable visit to Hollywood. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer unknown
