'The Outer Limits' Television Series 1990s collector's embroidered patch. Large at 6 13/16" x 5 1/4". Obverse in gilt and white thread embroidery on deep forest green fine-ribbed cloth. Embroidery executed through stabilizing cloth on reverse. See images of both sides. 'The Outer Limits' series of the nineties was an updated version of the 60s' series of the same name with newer and better special effects and other production values. Both incarnations were inspired by Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" series a now-timeless sequence of Science Fiction / Horror tales with a solemn narrated message at the beginning and end of each installment usually a lesson about regarding the nature of the spirit of the human species sometimes with a cosmological twist as well delivered by Serling. Both incarnations of The Outer Limits followed his lead in that and in other major creative elements. While the 90s Outer Limits had of course better production values in general being newer neither acolyte ever quite matched Serling's pre- and post-episode message delivery or writing. All three are now of course a part what makes the genre so collectible in all forms. An extraordinarily scarce patch having apparently never been produced in large number nor widely distributed. At this time the Best Actor and Actress James Cagney for Yankee Doodle Dandy and Greer Garson for Mrs. Miniver were awarded statues while supporting actors Van Heflin for Johnny Eager and Theresa Wright for Mrs. Miniver were presented with the plaque versions. For Garbo's first All-Talking picture film MGM had the world wait more than two years into the sound movie process before allowing her to be heard. They chose Eugene O'Neill's famous play as her vehicle and it was a super hit. This scene still includes Garbo as Anna and veteran actor George F. Marion as her father. Marion adapted the play and wrote the screenplay. Garbo was nominated for the Academy Award as best actress for her very first talkie. This was a stark and minimalist version of the famous play far different from most MGM films of the time. Though the film creaks Garbo's work is still astonishing. At a time when the Academy Awards were still under construction Garbo was actually nominated twice in the same year she received a separate nomination for Romance. Still is coded 456-145. Though John Huston intended the role of Angela Phinlay for Lola Albright Marilyn Monroe won the role and it was the first in which her great dramatic abilities were explored. Poster features Monroe prominently thanks to agent Johnny Hyde's work in placing her there amongst the films MGM contract players. Poster is paper-backed. There are creases at all four corners. A few small inter tears have been addressed in the lower left side photo area. There was a long horizontal crease or tear from the mid left side to the mid-point of the poster which has been addressed. Corner pinholes addressed. These ladies some who would be featured in small parts and a few who would achieve smaller star statuses were under contract to decorate the many colorful musicals MGM produced. They were not trained dancers but were often women who had risen to the top in the modeling world; Ava was placed amongst them during her first contract days. She is seen at left sitting in the first row.</p><p>Amongst those showgirls who are called "Dream Girls" for their stint in <em>Two Girls and a Sailor</em> are Kay Williams who would be Clark Gable's last wife and Hazel Brooks who would be featured in a few B noir films. Vanessa Redgrave Sarah Miles David Hemmings John Castle Jane Birkin Verushka dir: Michelangelo Antonioni; MGM. The story of a mod London photographer who believes he has photographed a murder. Forever controversial and even hated particularly when first released it is Antonioni's comment on society particularly of the time and human nature. The film was made by MGM in the UK under a newly-created company called Premier Productions. Because this company had no agreement with the Production Code office as MGM did the frontal nudity and explicit scenes were allowed to remain in the film. Some of these nude scenes included the famous international models cast in the film. Hemmings' character also shot fashion photography with them. The best and sexiest photos from the film like this one were produced in the UK the film's country of origin as they were far too racy for use in the US back then. Still labeled ""BU-30"" features one of the most famous models of all time Peggy Moffitt. She immortalized herself in the 1960s as designer Rudi Gernreich's main model her Kabuki-style make-up and asymmetrical hair cut designed by Vidal Sassoon also helped.
