'The Outer Limits' Television Series 1990s collector's embroidered patch. Large at 6 13/16" x 5 1/4". Obverse in gilt and white thread embroidery on deep forest green fine-ribbed cloth. Embroidery executed through stabilizing cloth on reverse. See images of both sides. 'The Outer Limits' series of the nineties was an updated version of the 60s' series of the same name with newer and better special effects and other production values. Both incarnations were inspired by Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" series a now-timeless sequence of Science Fiction / Horror tales with a solemn narrated message at the beginning and end of each installment usually a lesson about regarding the nature of the spirit of the human species sometimes with a cosmological twist as well delivered by Serling. Both incarnations of The Outer Limits followed his lead in that and in other major creative elements. While the 90s Outer Limits had of course better production values in general being newer neither acolyte ever quite matched Serling's pre- and post-episode message delivery or writing. All three are now of course a part what makes the genre so collectible in all forms. An extraordinarily scarce patch having apparently never been produced in large number nor widely distributed. Some border wear about fine. </em></p><p>While learning to become a star actress MGM utilized young Ava Gardner as one of the follies/showgirls. These ladies some who would be featured in small parts and a few who would achieve smaller star statuses were under contract to decorate the many colorful musicals MGM produced. They were not trained dancers but were often women who had risen to the top in the modeling world; Ava was placed amongst them during her first contract days. She is seen at left sitting in the first row.</p><p>Amongst those showgirls who are called "Dream Girls" for their stint in <em>Two Girls and a Sailor</em> are Kay Williams who would be Clark Gable's last wife and Hazel Brooks who would be featured in a few B noir films. Spotted by an MGM talent scout while working at a LA department store she was brought to MGM where the swimming musical was built around her. About fine. </em></p><p>Presented is Margaret Mitchell's biography file with her headshot portrait typed memo from Howard Dietz' MGM Advertising and Publicity department and a three-page typed biography. Dated 12-11-39 this is the release which went to all advertising departments to publicize the premiere of the epic film adaptation of her bestselling novel <em>Gone With the Wind</em>.</p><p>The bio tells of her life as a writer taking ten years from 1926-36 to write her Pulitzer Prize-winning book which would be her only published novel. The photo and bio come in its original file folder and the cover letter has "Star File" written at top. <em>Gone With the Wind</em> would have its world premiere in Atlanta GA on Dec 15 1939. Mitchell producer David O. Selznick and much of the main cast would attend. The publicity and advertising campaign for the film were the biggest achieved for a film up to that time.</p> Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

This is a stapled pamphlet. Along with is a folded leaf of the same size of "Facts About the Production". This has black and white photographs of David Selznick; Margaret Mitchell Victor Fleming and several "On the Set" informal images. We have not seen this "Fact" leaf before. The brochure has colored drawings of the principals as well as some of the secondary characters. It is noteworthy that no black character is depicted. The great Hattie McDaniel is nowhere to be found nor is Butterfly McQueen. A sad commentary. Both brochures are folded in half with creases. Good binding. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer unknown books

Minor wear near fine. </em></p><p>Greer Garson launches into her acceptance speech for her Academy Award as Best Actress for 1942 for her role in <em>Mrs. Miniver</em>. She is presented by 1941's winner Joan Fontaine. Garson is known to have made the longest Academy speech in history; because of that speeches were thereafter given time limits.</p><p>The award seen in the image is likely one made of painted plaster as the awards given out in 1943-45 were made of plaster due to a shortage of metal.
