19503771Washington DC: Corcoran Gallery of Art 1950. Softcover. VG. Blue wraps. 270 pp. 311 bw plates. Although this publication reads like a history text for the most part the way the illustrations are interspersed within the text really makes this a very important study in American historical painting. Very scarce catalogue with hundreds of bw plates although some are small. Full catalogue at rear. The exhibition was organized by Hermann Warner Williams and the main essay was written by Elizabeth McCausland. Eight-page introductory essay by Williams. Many of the works in this exhibition were drawn from private sources and had never been generally seen before. Corcoran Gallery of Art unknown books
