The text was drawn from a volume published by the Hakluyt Society in 1948 with the addition of extracts from diaries kept by others aboard H.M.S. Dolphin between 19 June and July 1767. The golden island of Tahiti seemed a paradise to the sea weary crew of HMS Dolphin in 1767. This account of their experiences was written by the Master o H.M.S. DolphinGeorge Robertson to whose vivid and outspoken narrative have been added some piquant details from the journals of other members of his ship's company. Visuallythe external appearance is exceptional and particularly internallyis also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of it's 50 year-old age.It really is an exceptionalexemplary example for it's brightnesscleanliness and lack of usual/any other age-acquired detracting faults commonly encountered in a book of a comparable age. The Society sources new introductions from literary experts to accompany classic texts and uses skilled designers and master printers to produce memorable fine books.Fiction and non-fiction titles are published. The Folio Society also prides itself on producing series of an author's works which regular publishers might not think economic - in several cases it is only possible to acquire forgotten books by major writers in Folio Society editions.
