In occasione del cinquecentenario della nascita di Leonardo da Vinci si registrò una larga mobilitazione della cultura internazionale, in particolare, ma non solo, europea. Intorno al nodo 'Leonardo' e al suo rapporto con il concetto di Rinascimento si misurarono differenti prospettive storiografiche e sensibilità nuove sullo sfondo di un clima culturale più arioso.
