Small octavo bound in full morocco gilt titles and tooling to the spine all edges gilt gilt ruled to the front and rear panels inner dentelles green marbled endpapers. In very good condition with light rubbing to the extremities. Born in Boston Massachusetts Phillips Brooks served as the Rector of Boston's majestic Trinity Church as well as the Bishop of Massachusetts. He was particularly remembered for his dynamic sermons and for championing the liturgical movement particularly congregational singing at the liturgy for which he lyricized many hymns. E.P.
