ill., br. Lol Tolhurst e Robert Smith sono sempre stati degli outsider sin da ragazzini, quando erano tra i primissimi punk della piccola cittadina di provincia di Crawley. Legati da un forte amore per la musica, hanno formato una band e iniziato a esibirsi nel circuito dei pub locali, sviluppando allo stesso tempo uno stile e delle sonorità uniche e personali. Nascono così i The Cure, leggende del post-punk e tra le band più importanti del rock britannico di tutti i tempi. I loro brani, spesso accessibili e accattivanti, sono anche fortemente sovversivi per come hanno sfidato ogni pregiudizio legato al pop e al rock a partire dagli stereotipi di genere, ispirando più di una generazione di fan e l'estetica di un'intera sottocultura. "Cured. Storia di due imaginary boys" non è solo l'unico resoconto visto dall'interno dei primi anni del gruppo, ma anche uno sguardo rivelatore sull'evoluzione artistica dell'enigmatico Robert Smith, l'iconico cantante-chitarrista-compositore che è la vera anima dei The Cure: un personaggio fortemente ribelle, sensibile, tenace e spesso sorprendentemente "normale", un impavido anticonformista capace di creare un proprio linguaggio musicale tramite cui esprimere il suo talento. Ogni storia ha però un lato oscuro: nel vortice del notevole successo dei The Cure, il batterista e tastierista Lol Tolhurst stava infatti alimentando un alcolismo che avrebbe finito per fargli perdere prima il posto nella band, e poi quasi la vita...
