The authors of the papers are classical philologists, geographers, philosophers, and ecologists; together they helped to expand the hermeneutic horizons beyond the traditional rhetorical boundaries of the locus amoenus/horridus, and to critically explore Berque's thesis about the "non-existence" of landscape in the ancient world.
