First published in 1857. The author of this report and minority of one was James Johnston Pettigrew 1828-1863. The question being considered was apparently whether South Carolina should revive the slave trade. Pettigrew argued against its revival although he was not against slavery. Pettigrew later served with distinction in the Confederate army rising to the rank of Brigadier General. Some toning evident in margins and whatever pattern was originally given the page block edges has worn to an uneven brown; the front endpaper has split along the hinge and there is some residue of a bookplate on the pastedown; the binding remains secure though with a short tear in the legal-yellow cloth along the left front two shallow depressions at the front foreedge wear to the cloth at free and bound corners and noticeable handling prints; decoration at the spine including the red and black leather labels for title and year shows concurrent wear including chipping of leather and flaking of the gilt borders on the leather; nonetheless designed to be sturdy and to maintain its dignity on the shelf in which endeavor it continues to succeed. 932pp A well-kept reprint of the climactic volume in the golden age "Colony of New York" series that preceded the popular multiverse crossover "Constitutional Convention" starring John A. Meclis-i Mebûsân (The Chamber of Deputies) of the Ottoman Empire was the lower house of the General Assembly, the Ottoman Parliament. Unlike to the upper house, the Senate, the members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected by the general Ottoman populace, although suffrage was limited to males of a certain financial standing, among other restrictions that varied over the Chamber's lifetime. The Second Constitutional Era of the Ottoman Empire began shortly after Abdul Hamid II was forced to restore the constitutional monarchy after the 1908 Young Turk Revolution. The period established many political groups and parties. Ahmet Riza became the first President of the Chamber in 1908. An amendment in 1909 to the original 1876 constitution resulted in the Chamber gaining more true political power at the expense of the non-democratically elected Senate and the Sultan. A series of elections during this period resulted in the gradual ascendance of the Committee of Union and Progress's (CUP) domination in politics. The second largest party Liberal Unionist Party (LU) (Turkish: Hürriyet ve Itilâf) was in fact a coalition of parties led by Prince Sabahaddin.
