Chief Justice of New-York and copied by John Lansing Jun. Esq. Late Chancellor of that state members of that convention including "The Genuine Information" laid before the Legislature of Maryland by Luther Martin Esq. then Attorney-General of that state and a member of the same convention also other historical documents relative to the Federal compact of the North American Union. Reprint of a work first published in Albany in 1821. Along with Alexander Hamilton and Jon Lansing Jr. Yates represented New York at the constitutional convention. Believing that the convention was exceeding its authority he left it and became a leading Anti- Federalist. Martin was a member of the committee that represented Maryland at the convention. "The Genuine Information" was on an important and widely circulated anti-federalist pamphlet. James Madison thought that Yates and Martin "appear to have reported in angry terms what they observed with jaundiced eyes." It must be added that Yates's notes were often more detailed than Madison's. "Luther Martin's Genuine Information is a general summary of the course of the Debates with a running criticism on each of the Constitution's articles.
