19430004118Chicago Ilinois: Lewis Publishing Company 1943. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. This is a five volume set all with the original brown paper dust jackets. Volume I and Volume III have writing on the front of the brown paper dust jackets. There is some chipping and small tears on some of the dust jackets. The book covers are embossed burgandy pebble cloth. The books themselves have reinforced bindings with marble colored endpages and many photos and gilt stamped lettering on the spine. Inside the endpage of volume three there is an approximate 2" area where some narrow scotch tape may have been removed . Volume one is 1023 pages and contains the index. Volume two is 1036 pages. Volume Three is 656 pages. Volume Four is 620 pages. Volume Five is 590 pages. These volumes are large and heavy and are in effect the first history which attemped to adequately cover the social and economic as well as the political and military history of the state of Missouri from its beginnings to publication date. The books themselves have no apparent underlining nor highlighting no bookplates no owner names no yellowing not ex-libras no remainder marks.
