Graziosa edizione italiana del quarto Étude de la Nature di Bernardin de Saint-Pierre inizialmente apparso nel 1788; la tragica storia d’amore tra due giovani cresciuti nell’incontaminata Mauritius ebbe uno straordinario successo in Francia e in Europa conoscendo numerose edizioni illustrate e non e traduzioni fino a tutto l'Ottocento. Questa edizione riprende la prefazione dell'edizione Masson del 1839 ispirandosi a questa anche per la cornice decorativa del testo e da quella milanese del 1822 la traduzione di Virginio Soncini con dedica ad Andrea Mustoxidi. Le tavole non intercalate al testo come indicato nell'indice delle incisioni ma poste dal legatore tra le pagine III e IV sono impresse dalla Premiata Litografia di Francesco Guarisco da disegni firmati C.
