The work was one of the most popular 18th-century captivity narratives describing a party of Quakers who were shipwrecked near present-day West Palm Beach robbed and both abused and fed by the local Jobe Indians before eventually being allowed to pass on to St. Augustine. The text concludes with later religious testimonies from the likes of David Brainerd Thomas Chalkley and Francis Guy. The label is from Francis Haefner Bookseller & Importer of Church Vestments etc. of Buffalo New York. There is a small approximately 1.5" x 1" damaged area on the front free endpaper that mirrors the label. Some soiling to endpapers. Mild tanning to paper.
