Records are vague but it appears his stay was tumultuous at one point reporting he had performed thirty-four christenings thirty-eight marriages and 156 burials — a less-than-uplifting picture is painted. Quincy was then elected rector of St. John's in Colleton South Carolina and later St. Philip in Charleston where he served for two years before returning to Boston.
