There he spent the rest of his life baptizing thousands of Indians and translating over twenty texts into the Cree Salteaux and Ojibwa languages. Several of his Cree translations he printed with his own hands on a press sent out from England. Pilling notes that some copies of the present work end on page 245 the verso of which is blank and include only to the end of Acts while in complete copies as this one Romans begins on page 246. ESTC 11371 and preceded by the Book of Common Prayer 1704 edition ESTC t81273 . Bound at the end is: The Whole Book of Psalms Collected into Engish Metre ESTC T195264. A very nice copy published by Charles Bill who has included the Whole Book of Psalms with the title page notation: "laying aside all ungodly songs and ballads which tend to the nourishing of vice and corrupting of youth". From the late 16th century on those with a Puritan orientation had the Psalms in metre using the words of Thomas Sternhold d. 154- and John Hopkins d. 154-. This edition of the Psalms usually reflected a careful attention to avoiding some of the allusions to lust or frivolity to have full attention to the worship of God. A very nice copy bound in black morocco engraved panel design with owner' name Margaret Roe on both front and rear boards in gilt on the first title page the book is further gifted to one of her children Francis spine fully gilt decorated marbled endpapers corners rounded all edges gilt but mostly faded a couple of tiny chips to foot smal piece torn away at a8 marginal only and another pice torn away on B1 marginal but just abscuring a bit of the side notes hinges somewhat weakened but quite sturdy the last two endpapers with tears at gutter.
