Quarto size 96 pp. A beloved read that still resonates with audiences today "A Child's Garden of Verses" captures the whimsical imagination of its readers describing the delight sorrows and creativity in the lives of children; Robert Louis Stevenson 1850-1894 brings his full literary prowess to this collection of verses.<br/><br/>Ruth Mary Hallock 1876-1945 illustrates this edition of Stevenson's poems bringing the words to life with numerous drawings in both colour and black and white; her children have a magic of their own as they explore the dazzling gardens and fantasy world Hallock has created for them.<br/><br/>___DESCRIPTION: Full dark blue cloth gilt lettering and full-colour illustration inset on the front board gilt lettering on the spine endpapers with line drawings in blue title page with black-and-white illustration black-and-white illustrations and floriated borders by Ruth Mary Hallock throughout full-page colour illustrations by Hallock throughout; quarto size 10.5" by 8.25" pagination: 1-4 5-96. In a grey paper dust jacket with colour illustration matching the front board and blue lettering on the front panel blue lettering on the spine a list of other books from the publisher on the rear panel a description of the book on the front flap and an advertisement from the publisher on the rear flap; the dust jacket is unclipped but there is no price.<br/><br/>___CONDITION: Volume is near fine with clean boards straight corners a strong square text block with solid hinges and the interior is clean and bright; some rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and corners a few faint spots of soiling to the margins of a few interior pages and there is a prior owner inscription on the front free endpaper.
