001555New York: McLoughlin Brothers. Wraps. Good. N.d. mid-19th Century. 12 pp. With three hand-colored illustrations. With series of four line stanzas containing moral aphorisms intended to be instructive guides for children. Some of the couplets may now strike readers as callous and others as pitiable but this can also be a result of an antiquated wording. An example: "Since I love to help the weak Though they're neither fair nor witty." This was issued as part of a series of pietistic or religious-tinged publications which became a profitable sideline niche for McLoughlin now better known for lighter children's fare and its puzzles and games. The brochure is about 5.5 x 4 inches. There is soiling on the yellow wraps and some within.

McLoughlin Brothers paperback books
