Tall octavo light-navy cloth spine with cream-coloured boards spine embossed with gilt lettering x 298 pp. Illustrated with black-and-white sketches diagrams and maps throughout. Top corners slightly bumped very light spotting on top and fore-edges of text block pale water mark on top edge of text block slight browning on top edges of covers dust-jacket very lightly worn with some fading on spine; otherwise a near-fine copy with crisp internal leaves and very good dust-jacket. First edition scarce. An account of the military history of the Jewish people. Rosenthal a specialist in military history and geopolitics and Mozeson an instructor at New York's Yeshiva University examine Jewish military strategy and technology from Roman times to present. Utilising archaeological research the authors reveal that militance is an integral element in Jewish culture. Little-known military escapades and uprisings of Afro-Asian Jews are discussed in detail and comparisons are made between past Jewish military activities to the practices and strategies used in the Middle East today demonstrating that although the Jewish people have suffered oppression and persecution they have also fought with fierce dedication for their freedom.
