This appears to be a somewhat scarce title as the OCLC seems to locate about six copies. No record at auction for at least a couple of decades for this title. In 1840 his family moved to Philadelphia. There he attended Jefferson Medical College and the University of Pennsylvania from which he received his medical degree in 1860. During the Civil War he served as assistant surgeon with the 26th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and served in Hooker's Brigade defending Washington D.C. He later transferred to the Navy serving under Admiral DuPont in the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron as Acting Assistant Surgeon in the Navy. After the war he became a pioneer in throat diseases and the founder of laryngology. Through his efforts Solis-Cohen professionalized a field earlier perceived as quackery and his education became a model for the training of head and neck surgeons. In 1866 he was the first in the United States to provide regular lectures on laryngology at the Philadelphia School of Anatomy. In 1875 he married Miriam Binswanger with whom he had eight daughters and three sons. He was a founder of the Philadelphia Polyclinic which would become the Graduate Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania and was its first professor of throat and chest diseases. Solis-Cohen also helped found the American Laryngologic Association and served as its president from 1880 to 1882. In 1892 he was the first surgeon in the United States to perform a complete laryngectomy successfully.</p><p><b>Henry M. Richards</b>1837-1873 was born in Mobile Alabama. In 1861 he was a clerk for a line of mail steamers. By his death he was the captain of a ship. He was buried in Mobile.</p><p><b>Condition</b></p><p>Fine</p> books

Over 70 copper-plate engraved illustrations for portraits of kings and emperors of the Roman Empire from Albertus to Sigismundus Franciscus all on coins recto and verso giving heraldry and one engraved chapter vignette heraldic on dedication page. Text in Latin. Later paste-paper boards paper label with manuscript title to spine edges stained red; margins trimmed close lightly toned scattered light foxing; lightly rubbed. German numismatist Jacob von Melle was a renowned poly-historian and a distinguished authority on the town of Lübecks history. Notably Melle was one of the first people to use the term bracteates for thin metal or gold medals. He was also the vicar for his local parish knew ten languages and directed a museum in Lübeck. In his time Melle published countless books; among these a Low German dictionary with 20000 entries and a book about the so-called guldgubber on the Danish island Bornholm guldgubber gold old men are tiny pre-historic gold-plates with a stamped human image. He was opposed to slavery but sympathetic to the South. During the Revolutionary War he served as scribe of the State Convention of the Clergy. Riis†on his personal stationary from “The Neighborhood Settlement†an outreach program for impoverished and immigrant populations that Riis helped establish in the late Nineteenth Century. Riis turns down an invitation to an event. The letter was written a few months before Riis’s marriage his second to Mary Phillips: “My dear Mrs. Love I am very sorry not be able to accept the invitation of the Packer Collegiate Institute Alliance for May 4th but on that date I shall be out of New York lecturing.
