It had been published in six London editions previously to this New York edition. Giles wrote several other legal works including in 1729 "A New Law Dictionary". Häftad och oskuren med stora marginaler i samtida gråpappersomslag. Främre omslaget med spår av borttagen etikett Första upplagan. En andra med författarens namn angivet trycktes 1828. Jacob Gråberg af Hemsö 1776-1847 var diplomat och skriftställare. Femton år gammal gick han till sjöss och tog 1793 tjänst i brittiska flottan vilken han dock tvangs lämna efter en duell. Han var av naturen språkbegåvad och slog sig efter avskedet från örlogstjänsten ned i Genua för studier och bevittnade där stadsstatens möte med Napoleons maktambitioner. Med sina vida förbindelser inom högre kretsar lämpade han sig väl för diplomatien och 1811 blev han svensk vicekonsul i Genua 1816 konsulatsekreterare i Tanger och 1823-28 konsul i Tripolis där han gjorde stora insatser för svensk handelssjöfart under en tid då sjöröveriet grasserade som värst. unknown
