Bright mable end papers with matching page edges. There is a book plate of Henry Tweedy m MD inside the cover.The pages are clean and bright. There is a two page color print at the end of book one. That text is 351 pages. The second text by Richard Carmichael Clinical Lectures on Venereal Disease is 219 pages. published in 1942.no markings. 1863027103Washington D.C.: Executive Mansion 1863. Small Octavo. 4 page folded pamphlet issued to military. The large number of desertions in the Civil War was becoming epidemic. Previously they might go home to bring in a harvest to visit a wife or girl friend or simply be tired of either war or what often seemed like endless waiting for something to happen. This offered soldiers amnesty if they returned before April 1 1863. Their only penalty would be the forfeiture of pay and allowances during their absence. After that date they will be arrested as "deserters and punished as the law provides." Pages 2-3 lists 36 places where they can report. Besides those near the places of conflict it includes locations as far away as Fort Vancouver Washington Territory Fort Randall Dakota Territory Salt Lake City and San Francisco. The paper also carries a story on the conspiracy to kill Lincoln and an arrest made in Baltimore. The Herald gives a clear picture of a nation in mourning and the large crowds that turned out for a final viewing of the late president. An important piece of American History. </p> books

Five volumes of Biographical and Critical Essays Reprinted from Reviews with Additions and Corrections. Two volumes of Sketches of Eminent Statesmen and Writers with Other Essays. This work commemorates to a large extent personal friendships with such men as Dumas Cavour and Thiers whom he knew intimately. Written by Abraham Hayward an English man of letters who was one of the Athenaeum Club's most conspicuous and influential members. Bookplate to the front paste down of each volume showing that this collection once belonged to Sir William Eden 7th and 5th Baronet 1849-1915. Sir William was a British politician former colonel and local magistrate described as eccentric and often foul-tempered. He was also a talented watercolourist who exhibited regularly in London and Paris and a collector of Impressionist art. Rebound in brown half crushed Morocco and cream cloth boards. Marbled endpapers. Externally very smart. Light bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to the board. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with minor age toning to the extremities. Much of this chapter is taken from Nathaniel Atcheson's work 'American Encroachments on British Rights' published in 1808 which is an observation on the importance of the British North American Colonies and looks at the treaties with the United States. This copy is disbound. Lacking the title page as this is one section from this periodical. This work is part II concluded from the last number. This work explores shipping and trade at the turn of the nineteenth century and looks at the relationship of Britain and America following the War of Independence and the Confederation period. A very scarce work which provides an insight into the political state and relationship between Britain its old colonies and the newly formed United States of America. Disbound. His master bought the resulting canvas and Cooper never looked back. Henry Graves was at that time in partnership with F.G. Moon and Thomas Boys. He engraved all the most famous pictures of his day paying Landseer a total of pounds sterling 50000 for copyrights alone and 20000 to the owner of Frith's "A Railway Station" for the painting the engraved plate and the list of subscribers.
