Set is heavily foxed but text is still fully legible. Some leaves have detached yet are present and laid in. 18419316<p>Nice condition antique copy of "The History of the Progress and Termination of the ROMAN REPUBLIC" by Adam Ferguson. 1841; Thomas Wardle; Philadelphia. Complete in one volume stated. Full leather binding with gilt lettering on the spine. The book features a fold-out map titled "The Roman Empire - Exhibiting its Coasts & Internal Divisions with the Principal Naval & Military Stations." There is an engraved frontispiece portrait of Ferguson and an engraved title page illustration.</p><p>Condition:<br />There are some scratches to the leather at the right edge of the front cover and at the left ege of the back cover. Light wear to the cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Consistent mild foxing to the text pages though heavier on the end papers and pastedowns otherwise clean. The folding map is firmly attached and in nice condition with only some foxing. The brown cloth-covered boards are very aged and soiled with small stains very rubbed and bumped to the corners edges and spine ends. The author signed and dedicated the book on the aged and soiled front endpaper. The text-block is very toned without writing or marks the first signiture has come adrift at the bottom spine corner and is a bit wrinkled very soiled and tanned to the edges. All pages are secure and present. A case of "do not judge the book by its cover" - a good reading copy.</p> Self Published hardcover
