His earliest work Meditations and Contemplations said to have been modelled on Robert Boyle's Occasional Reflexions on various Subjects within fourteen years passed through as many editions. The books in this 3 Volume set are all hard-bound in brown speckled cloth with gilt and black stamping on the upper covers and spines and with black stamping on the lower covers. The covers are in excellent condition showing only light rubbing to the corners and spine-ends and light sunning to the spines. There are some faint mottling spots to the bottom edge of the lower cover of Volume I. The front hinge of Volume I is cracked causing some play in the upper cover and the text-block is "starting" at a few spots but with the binding still solid. Volume II has the front hinge cracked and the text-block shows the beginning of separation at a few places near the center with a few signatures groups of pages loosening. Volume III has light wear to the hinges but with the binding solid. There are previous owner signatures on the half title-pages. Overall excellent exterior condition and contents but with the bindings loosening. . Bickers & Son hardcover

Collated complete.Hervey had a lasting impact on art through William Blake who was an admirer of his and influenced Blake's poem 'The Tyger'.Extensive 1873 inscription of Thomas Croulle to a front blank with the morocco label 'Mary Hudson 1814' to front board.Published in the civil parish of Burslem Stoke on Trent in the early 19th century by Tregortha a major figure in the book trade of the region and provided printing and binding services. He printed about eighty-one books and pamphlets many of a religious nature between 1796 and his death in 1821. In a full calf binding with contemporary owner's morocco label to front board. Minor loss to back strip tail with light rubbing to back strip and joints. Joint tails starting with boards firmly held. Inscription to a front blank. Internally firmly bound. Chapter nine is titled 'The Mormon City' p.114-134 and chapter ten is titled 'Salt Lake City' p.114-134. A very uneven account of the Mormons in the Great Basin. "Not to mince the matter I never saw such a collection of ugly shriveled melancholy looking women in my life."
