Seymour. 3 Volumes bound as one 1- The Real Devil's Walk pp34 plus engraved frontis 6 full page illustrations by Robert Cruikshank with vignettes throughout text. An interesting work believed to be a revised version of "The Devil's Thoughts" 1799 but later revised with a letter appearing in the February 14th edition of the Morning Post 1830 with the claim by one R. C. Porson that the poem "The Devil's Walk" had been actually written by his deceased uncle "Professor Porson".2_ The Devil's Progress pp67 with engraved b/w frontis plus 4 full page b/w engravings and two vignettes designed by R. Seymour and engraved by Evans and Welch. This being another satire expanded from "The Devil's Thoughts" . 3-The Ancient and Modern History of the Devil this final part is missing it's title pages and preface but appears to be complete in two parts. Part one- Ancient history pp1-118 in 10 chapters . Part 2- Modern History pp119-264 in 11 chapters. It states on final page" Printed by J. Bailey 116 Chancery lane". 12mo although the poetry pieces are a smaller size paper. Contemporary binding of half brown calf over marbled boards with 5 tooled gilt lines and the title of "The Devil" to spine in good condition with some rubbing to boards rubbing to edges and leather. Inside hand written title page to history of the devil at beginning of book and old catalogue entry for "the devil's walk" to front pastedown. There is a little foxing and toning throughout but generally all pages in very good condition for their age in a tight solid binding. A very interesting item. Scarce.
