He served as a missionary for some years in China and returned to organize missionary activity in the Far East. This account of his travels makes interesting reading. He visited and describes many places, customs, sights, religions. In China: Shanghai; Peking; Kiukiang; Foochow; Hong Kong; Canton - in Japan: Yokohama; Nagasaki; Tokio (Tokyo); among other places.
