Diane Arbus 1923-1971 was noted for her portraits of people on the fringes of society such as prostitutes transvestites dwarfs giants as well as ordinary working class citizens in unconventional poses and settings. Arbus became the first American photographer to be exhibited at the Venice Biennale. "For me the subject of the picture is always more important than the picture. And more complicated. I do have a feeling for the print but I don't have a holy feeling for it. I really think what it is is what it's about. I mean it has to be of something. And what it's of is always more remarkable than what it is." Diane Arbus. Aperture & The Museum of Modern Art hardcover
16-5809Paris: Israel Henriet circa 1620s. 27 etchings on laid paper. Complete suite of 24: Lieure nos 379 to 402. Mounted in half calf album with painted border lines. Trimmed inside the plate marks. Sheet sizes between 72 x 95 and 80 x 111mm. Three added states. Manuscript essay on blank page.See detailed description in French by the expert Alain CANO below .Title page is second state of 3. but likely later printings.Royal Collection Trust:Callot produced the series in Lorrain in 1623 after his twelve-year journey in Italy. The prints were very popular and several sets of copies circulated. The copies on this folio were published in Paris by Balthasar Moncornet possibly in the early 1630s. Cassiano owned sixteen of the twenty-four copied sheets. The Balli have been studied in many occasions: some scholars have considered them as tied to the theatrical traditions whereas others have seen them as a product of Callot's fervid imagination. They possibly represent a mixture of both. With the exception of the frontispiece each print depicts two named characters more or less well-known with Neapolitan and Tuscan names. Both Callot's and Moncornet's series have titles in Italian despite being published in France demonstrating how fashionable Italian subjects were in France. Callot's aim was not to represent specific actors but through naming figures to individualise their character traits appearance and exaggerated poses. Moncornet's prints eliminate some of the buildings in Callot's settings introducing a more theatrical context.BALLI di SFESSANIARéédition de la série des 24 gravures. Expertise by Alain CANO AC Paris: Israel Henriet, circa 1620s unknown

It proposed the establishment of a Jewish homeland outside of Palestine offering alternative solutions to the ongoing debate about Jewish self-determination and Zionism.21 After having for a time endorsed Theodor Herzl including presiding over a meeting at the Maccabean Club London addressed by Herzl on 24 November 1895 and endorsing the main Palestine-oriented Zionist movement. 144369Kansas City: Sheed and Ward 1976. First printing of this edition of this classic work. Octavo original cloth. Boldly signed by Israel Kirzner on the half-title page. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket design by John Grandits. Edited with an introduction by Laurence S. Moss. In this work Kirzner explains how the “economic point of view†emerged in the development of economic science since the eighteenth century and through it the concepts of purpose subjectivism and rationality. Kirzner’s incomparable ability to navigate through the core ideas of economics helps the reader become progressively familiar with the history of the discipline and its definition. Within the seven chapters Kirzner discusses such subjects as the science of wealth and welfare; the nature of economic science and the significance of macroeconomics; and the sciences as human action. However, only seven of the fifteen articles are signed by him. Other contributors included Julius [Joel] Aronson, A. B. He wandered in his youth, collecting ancient manuscripts and books in many countries, and then established a bookshop in Odessa. In 1897 he tried unsuccessfully to found an agricultural settlement in Nevada (U. S. ) . An active Zionist, he settled in Palestine in 1913 where he investigated the possibilities of Jewish settlement. After being expelled by the Turks in 1916 he returned to the United States and continued his bibliographical work. His two most noteworthy bibliographical works are Or Mayer: Catalogue of the Old Hebrew Manuscripts and Printed Books of the Library of the Hon. Mayer Sulzberger of Philadelphia (1896) and Koheleth America (1926) , a listing of Hebrew books published in America from 1735 to 1926. The first part of the latter work contains essays on the state of Hebrew literature in America, which are written in his unadorned, but typically acerbic, style. He laid the foundations of the Hebrew book and manuscript collections of the Library of Congress with the financial aid of Jacob Schiff. A violent polemicist on many controversial subjects, he attacked Reform Judaism, Hasidism, Christianity, and Karaism. Deinard was a prolific Hebrew writer, producing more than 50 books and pamphlets often signed with his pseudonym, Adir (Wikipedia, 2018; Goldman 2006) . SUBJECTS: Hebrew literature -- United States.
