Contains 689 pages plus two pages of adverts all in clean condition page 464 has a diagonal tear to side of page 5 cms long and smaller tear to bottom 5mm long.Many B/w illustrations all present as listed plus very informative text NO dustwrapper outer illustrated boards are a little rubbed to edges and spine which is a little browned.The rear endpaper has split at the hingethe binding is sound but you can see the webbing of the binding SEE IMAGE. 187596401Windermere U.K.: August 21 1875. 1875. Good. - More than 65 words penned on two sides of a folded sheet of blue personalized letterhead with a device and the initials "T.E.W." at the top. Measuring 7 inches high by 4-1/2 inches wide the letter is addressed to a Mr. Middleton. Writing from "The Terrace / Windermere" Wilkinson writes that he will not come to Leeds at present. He goes on to discuss financial arrangements: "You ask for the address of my treasurer. Will you please send any remittances to me here before next Wednesday & I will enter them & pass them on." He signs himself "Thomas Edward / Bishop of Zululand". The letter has been folded three times for mailing. A piece of heavy stock has been mounted to the top of the 4th blank leaf else very good. <p>The Anglican bishop Thomas Edward Wilkinson 1837-1914 was the first Bishop of Zululand 1870-1876. Before his ordination he had joined the French Foreign Legion and traveled extensively. He was the coadjutor bishop of London for north and central Europe. Inscribed and signed by Made Wijaya on the title page. Wijaya's last work explores the influence of the Javanese Majapahit empire over much of Indonesia from the late 13th to the early 16th century. Because of Wijaya's illness the projected Volume II never eventuated and production of this edition was apparently curtailed for this is only the second copy I have discovered in ten years.
