Caption title and 14 quatrains within an ornamental border. The last two stanzas are a tribute to Gen. Hiram Berry: Among those of the slain I must here tell Of brave Gen. Berry who always fought well And those who the history of the rebellion have read Have learned that at Gettysburg Hiram Berry was shot dead. A Major General was he as I will relate From away down east in the Pine Tree State And while the history of the rebellion is taught The name Hiram Berry will n'er be forgot. Not found in OCLC which does record a handful of Porter imprints between 1850 and 1870 among them the Rockland Gazette. This poem was probably written for the ceremonies inaugurating a statue of Berry in Rockland October 31 1865. It appears to be the only publication of Beverage. He is listed in the 1860 Federal Census as a "Gentleman" and in 1870 as a "farm laborer" in both cases a resident of the island community of North Haven Knox Co. 9169" x 6 1/4" Victorian photo album full of 69 carte de visites. 20 leaves total/ 35 pages in use. All but 5 inserts contain photos.

Of the handful of CDVs I pulled out from the page these locations were noted: Frankfurt Germany; Versailles France Liverpool U.K and the Grotte au Glacier a Grindelwald in 1871 where two men hold hands to keep steady along the ice. Of the CDVs pulled few were provided with credit to the photographer named: Henry Sampson A. Gabler and another attributed to Chris Krause in Berlin. There is plenty more to be seen if this album is pulled apart in full.

CDVs are of sepia tone. Inserts measure 2 1/16" x 3 1/14" with decorative edge. The edge of each page is colored red with an embossed golden pattern. The cover exhibits wear and distress. A latch mechanism is only half intact. Apparently unrelated a bookplate graces the inside front cover reads: Flag and Staff Erected 1862 with the signature of "Annie Haven Thwing" with photo of flag and staff provided. Thwing 1851-1940 was an American historian and children's author. She is known for her research of Boston Massachusetts. unknown
