Carta geografica murale dell'Egitto, Arabia Petrea, Nubia e Abissinia alla scala di 1:2.500.000. La mappa si presenta stampata in due grandi fogli di mm 580x780 ognuno, applicati all'epoca su tela a stacchi. Basata su fonti inglesi, la carta è adattata per un pubblico italiano infatti nell'angolo in basso a sinistra su due colonne la terminologia inglese viene tradotta in italiano per permettere un'adeguata lettura della raffigurazione geografica. Sotto al titolo sono riportate le scale grafiche, che si ripetono anche nel secondo foglio. Per quanto riguarda lo stato di conservazione la parte superiore leggermente brunita e con piccole macchie rispetto a quella inferiore, complessivamente molto buono.

Carta geografica raffigurante i territori di Nubia ed Abissinia che corrispondono agli attuali Sudan, Eritrea, Gibuti ed Etiopia. Sull'altra sponda del Mar Rosso è rappresentata porzione dell'Arabia. L'incisione è caratterizzata da una gradevole acquerellatura confinale coeva. Leggere macchie nel margine che non compromettono il generale ottimo stato di conservazione. La carta si trova inserita nel terzo volume dell'opera "Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale delineato sulle ultime osservazioni" pubblicato nel 1792, che venne commissionato al Cassini dalla Calcografia Camerale di Roma. Successivamente vennero pubblicati il secondo ed il terzo volume rispettivamente nel 1797 e nel 1801. Atlante che, con la sua pubblicazione, coniuga le mappe geografiche con incisioni e informazioni di carattere geografico, araldico, etnografico e storico così rendendo l’opera in sette volumi molto innovativa.Henri Abraham Chatelain (1684 - 1743), pastore ugonotto originario di Parigi visse alternativamente a Parigi, Londra, L'Aia ed Amsterdam. Conosciuto come cartografo olandese per il sua opera cartografica monumentale in sette volumi “Atlas Historique” pubblicata ad Amsterdam con i suoi fratelli. Mappa piegata editorialmente dell'Africa nord-orientale, del Mar Rosso e della penisola arabica e mostra le divisioni politiche e i regni. Il Nilo ha origine nelle montagne vicino al L. de Dambee. Vengono illustrati i fiumi, laghi e montagne. Rilievo illustrato pittoricamente. Include testo con annotazioni. Restauro per strappo in basso al centro
(Viaggi in Africa Orientale - Esplorazioni - Etiopia meridionale - Abissinia - Somalia - Letteratura coloniale) In 8°, legatura editoriale in piena tela ocra con titoli impressi in oro al dorso ed al piatto anteriore, guardie in carta decorata, pp. 282,(2). con 3 appendici, 6 carte geografiche a colori ripiegate fuori testo, una pianta topografica a colori fuori testo, 158 ill. fotografiche su tavole fuori testo. Nel 1910 al Citerni fu affidato dal Ministero per gli Affari Esteri il comando di una spedizione destinata a definire la frontiera tra i possedimenti italiani della Somalia e le provincie sud-orientali dell'Impero etiopico in base al trattato stipulato il 16 luglio 1908 dai due governi. La missione raggiunse i confini il 15 marzo 1911 ed iniziò le operazioni geodetiche che si prolungarono per molti mesi e che furono sospese a causa di una rivolta fra le popolazioni dell'Uebi-Scebeli. Verranno rilevati ben 1600 Km. di frontiera, notevoli anche i risultati ottenuti nei campi della geografia fisica, della geologia, della zoologia, della botanica e dell'etnografia. Leggere tracce di ossidazione lungo i tagli ed alle carte geografiche, per altro bell'esemplare, solido e ben conservato.
